Be Prepared To Take Notes

If you don’t understand the terminology in the lease, don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as  you need to get the answers. So take some notes and keep them handy as you might not want to re-read the entire lease to find them later on.

Animals

If you are bring pets with you or are planning on getting one,  your lease will discuss items including breed types and weight limits. Also ask about pet rent and pet deposits. Usually you should receive a portion of the deposit back. How will the property determine that amount? Utilities

You probably have already covered this item. But all renters should know what utilities they are responsible for. Usually these include electricity, water, and gas. Trash is normally a fee that is simply tacked on your rent. Read your lease regarding any water leaks that may present themselves later on.

Parties
