When you move into your new apartment home, the apartment community should provide you with a checklist. This should be used to inspect your entire apartment home. You should fill out the form completely and list any and all pre-existing situations. If there are any existing problems this will give both the apartment community and you time to get the issues resolved. If you have time, you should consider creating your own apartment checklist. So get a pen and a piece of paper and starting taking notes.
1) Start looking at your flooring in your apartment home. Whether you have carpeting, stained concrete, or wood flooring, make notes of any scratches, tears, chipped tiles, or stains that may exist on the premises. When you move out of your apartment home, they will match your inventory checklist with the condition of your apartment home. Remember that the property may not repair certain conditions that you mark as problematic.
2) Move onto the ceilings and walls. Are there any holes, dents, or any structural damage that you are concerned with? Is the wallpaper peeling or are there signs of water damage? Remember you will not be charged for normal wear and tear.
3) Go in each room and turn all all the lights. You will want to make sure they all work appropriately. If the apartment homes have dimmers, test each one separately. If a light is burned out make a note of this. You will be responsible for replacing lights. However, if one is burned out before you move in, the property should replace this free of charge.
4)) Now turn your attention to the bathrooms. Are the faucets operating correctly? Do you have both hot and cold water? Bathrooms normally have tile so examine the counters and flooring for chips or scratches. Anything that stands out should be notated. Are there any leaks? You don’t have to be an expert to notice that something is out of place.
5) If you have extra storage in the apartment home, look to see that it has been appropriately cleaned and that the locks work accordingly
6) Now go examine each door and window. They should open and lock. Sometimes the flooring is warped and the door rubs against it. Go onto your patio/balcony. Examine the railing and flooring too. Are there any problems with cracked boards or the exterior siding?
Lastly request that the community repair any of these issues. Keep a copy for yourself and give it to the appropriate personnel. Living in your new Addison apartments should be fun. Also check out Farmers Branch apartments too. |
