As an apartment locator in the Dallas area. There are literally thousands of apartment homes in the area. We have seen a numerous amount of them and contacted management and leasing agents regarding availability, pricing, and much more over several years. There are professionally run apartment communities that tend to their residents needs. And there are another wide array of apartment communities that don’t repair maintenance issues and offer their residents an awful living experience.
From time to time clients will indicate that they are not interested in a certain apartment communities due to the fact that they read a horrible story on another website. This almost always is apartment ratings. So recently I spent some time reading reviews about some apartment communities I am familiar with.
What I immediately noticed that ratings were by a large majority, extremely negative. The majority of the comments relate to a negative experience someone had at the community in question. So are these people telling the truth? The answer is probably yes and no. Business owners know today that they cannot please everyone. There are going to be a certain percentage of people that are going to be unhappy with their experiences. Whether it be a computer purchase or renting an apartment home.
For example if the apartment community next door had late parties and made constant noise during the evening this could create an issue. Or if one of the residents believed the leasing agent had an attitude. This could create a bad perception of the management on the property. Various renters complain about break-ins or the type of sketchy people who hang out on the premises. There are a myriad of issues that occur when you bring in hundreds of people in a smaller space.
Anyone can leave comments. All one needs is a valid email address and a keyboard and they can comment away. But don’t make a judgement about one particular property based upon what an anonymous writer claimed.
If you spend enough time, you soon realize that this is more of a complaint board than a place that has an equal amount of positive and negative comments.
