If you are thinking about brining your pet with you, there are a few rules you should be aware of. Most apartment communities in Dallas will accept your pets. In fact more people today are binging their pets with them to live in their apartment home. Most apartment communities realize that they will lose renters if they have a no pet policy, so many have changed their pet policy. But before you sign your apartment lease, there a few rules that all apartment communities will follow. Just because apartment apartments accept pets doesn’t mean they will accept yours.
Read on about tips regarding rules you may need to know about Addison apartments communities and pets.
Breed Type
All apartment communities will set rules about breed types. Almost all apartment management companies will not allow aggressive breeds on the premises. So if you have a Pit Bull or Doberman, the community probably won’t allow your pet on the premises. Apartments have strict rules against these types of pets as they may injure other apartment tenants. And litigation is something they will want to avert at all costs.
Be sure and ask the leasing agent the rules regarding pets classified as an aggressive breed. Although you may not believe your pet is aggressive, apartments will make rules regarding the breed. They will not do a doggie interview. Although we have heard of these types of interviews, its a good bet that they won’t.
If you have an aggressive breed, you might want to think about renting a private home, or a private apartment community. When you deal directly with the owner, he might not be as strict.
Pet Weight
Pet weight can be a little bit trickier. All apartment homes will list a maximum pet weight. Occasionally you may find some apartment communities that will not have a pet maximum. Here is where it can get a little tricky. Suppose your pet weights 35lbs and the weight maximum is 30lbs. Although the apartment community won’t weight your pet, they may ask for your veterinarian records. It really depends if your pets weight is reflected on the documents. If it’s not you probably will slide by. And don’t try and bring your pet in if it is obvious that it won’t meet the weigh requirements, you will be turned away.
