Meeting Landlords and Viewing Apartments
After you have done all your homework and your out searching for apartments, you will want to bring all your questions, needs, wants, and concerns with you. These should all be addressed to your landlord. Begin by making appointments to tour the communities you have expressed an interest in.

The first rule of thumb is never show up at an apartment  community without calling ahead. First of all you will want to make sure they have availability, and you also want to be able to view the unit.  Don’t put yourself in the position where you will have to visit the Dallas Uptown apartments a second time in order to view the apartment unit.

Sometimes you will not be able to view the actual unit, but one that is very similar to it. If you cannot see the actual unit don’t get discouraged, many renters lease an apartment unit sight unseen. If you have an issue with this, then you may need to come back at another time. However, you should know that good apartment homes go fast, especially if the price is attractive.  And be prompt, many landlords my frown upon you if you make them wait. They may think you may not be timely with you rent payments either.

If you will have a roommate or two, you will all want to view the apartment at the same time. If you come alone you may not agree or get the results you are searching for. The lone absent roommate may not like the property and it can create confusion and anger within the group.

Remember making a good impression is extremely important. Dress well and be respectful. Don’t show up in sandals and cutoff shirts. The first impression is normally the most important and how you will be judged.  How you act will most definitely affect how your future landlord may feel about you.

Follow These Rules When Walking Through an Apartment

You will need to examine a lot in a short period of time.  So have your list handy and be prepared to ask the landlord all of your questions. If you like the apartment home and the pricing is right, be prepared to make a decision quickly.  Remember your not the only one searching for an apartment home. If there is just one unit available you could lose it to the next person who views the unit.

But don’t sign the apartment lease without viewing the unit. Its very important that you see the apartment home first.
